Dr. Kelly N. Mai, O.D., is a licensed therapeutic optometrist and optometric glaucoma specialist who provides care for children, adults, and seniors. With over two decades of experience in optometry, she is widely trusted for her ability to diagnose and manage a broad range of eye conditions, including dry eye disease, cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and other ocular diseases.
Dr. Mai knew early on that she wanted to work in healthcare and help others. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Houston in 2002, graduating Magna Cum Laude with consistent Dean’s List honors. She went on to complete her Doctorate of Optometry at the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2006.
Her career reflects both drive and dedication. Dr. Mai began practicing at Bay City Vision Care and soon after opened Central Vision Quest, P.A. in Brenham. In 2017, she joined Vision Trends and established Cypress Ranch Vision, where she continues to focus on building strong, long-term relationships with her patients. She has maintained excellent standing with the American Optometric Association and the Texas Optometric Association for many years.
Dr. Mai has a special interest in complex contact lens fittings, ocular disease management, myopia control, and the co-management of LASIK and refractive surgeries. These skills were shaped during her externships at the Mann Eye Institute, Laser Eye Center, and the Houston Eye Center. She also provides orthokeratology (Ortho-K) lens services as a non-surgical option for vision correction and myopia management.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Mai is passionate about giving back to her community and honoring her Vietnamese heritage. She is the co-founder of the Vietnamese Culture Foundation and is involved in several local community and professional groups. In her personal time, she enjoys traveling, gardening, biking, shopping, and relaxing with a good Netflix binge. Above all, she values time spent with her family and believes in maintaining a meaningful balance between work, service, and home life. She also proudly supports and volunteers with local schools, Viet TV and radio, and Remote Area Medical (RAM), providing vision care through medical mission work to underserved communities.
